TIM ROBINSON first picked up a camera at age 14, when he travelled to South East Asia with his family. It was after this trip that he knew that he wanted to take photos for a living.
Even now when Tim travels, he always takes the time out to explore his surroundings on his own so he can capture those snippets of culture and beauty. In particular it is that certain type of light that Tim loves capturing – that moment when the light is perfect and you know you’ve gotten the shot. As lighting is what still life is all about – the way it hits a subject should always be the inspiration.
Tim is one of the country’s most in-demand still life shooters. From beauty products to wine bottles, to interiors and lifestyle, Tim is exceptional at it all. His strength and reputation is particularly apparent in his jewellery work. Tim’s extremely steady hand and very critical eye are the reason so many of Australia’s most exclusive jewellers such as Paspaley, Bunda and Jan Logan, entrust him to shoot their collections.
His editorial client list include Marie Claire, Vogue Living, Inside Out, Oyster and Belle. He shot his first high profile advertising campaign at 21 and has not slowed down since, regularly shooting for big name brands such as Shiseido, Clarins, Electrolux, Spec Savers, Space Furniture, DJ’s and Bertolli. He is also skilled in food and wine photography shooting a number of cookbooks and wine campaigns.
Early in his 25 year career, Tim photographed some amazing personalities such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, David Attenborough and even spent the day sailing around Sydney Harbour with Elton John and his mum. However it is where he is now that he is happiest.
